Norwegian in-service teachers’ perspectives on language corpora in teaching English

This study aims to explore potential reasons why the use of tools and methods corpus linguistics are not prevalent in English teaching Norway, using research question What do in-service teachers Norway find useful about corpora what they challenging? The provides interview data from teachers, contributing our understanding perspective on corpora. design consists seminars for (featuring LancsLex, concordancer AntConc OANC), integrated into a language course that is part further education programme, semi-structured interviews with four students who took course, during which also interacted Netspeak, SKELL COCA. As previous research, found particularly learning vocabulary, challenges categorized here as usability (criticism AntConc), IT (a lack skills among teachers), learner-corpus interaction (the complexity software concordance lines pupils; pupil uninterest language), teacher need (mistakes being “obvious” lower years). article discusses some implications these findings.
